Apple To Release iPhone / iTouch SDK in February 2008

Apple has announced that the company will be releasing a Software Development Kit (SDK) for their much hyped iPhone and iTouch models. Up until now, the two latest releases that feature an iPod have relied on software designed specifically to run online, or through the Web 2.0 platform.
Criticism met Apple with the release of the iPhone in June when it was announced that all software that could be designed for the mobile device could only be designed and accessed online. Mobile software developers all over the world were stunned and remained puzzled as to why the restrictions were set, this coming from a company (Apple) that was supposedly opening slowly to third-party applications developers, particularly for the iPhone itself.
Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc. has now announced, however, that fill support for third-party native applications development for the iPhone will be arrive in February of 2008. The SDK has already reached the hands of some chosen developers (not specified) and Apple has announced that "they are taking the time to do it properly because we're trying to do two diametrically opposed things at once -- provide an advanced and open platform to developers while at the same time protect iPhone users from viruses, malware, privacy attacks, etc."
