Gundam Goes Life-size

Mecha Maniacs unite! Gundam fans can now purchase a human-sized version of their favorite robots.

The 1.5-meter tall version of the Gundam — whose adventures have been hits on both Japanese and US television will start selling it in specialty store and online come Dec. 16, 2006.

The robots weigh about 35 kilograms, strikes poses, makes robotic noises and with sends red laser rays from its head and flashing lights through its eyes.

While children may be enthralled by the life-size Gundam, at a price tag of 350 000 yen ($3 000) the only buyers I can think of are 20- to 40-year-old men and quite honestly I have no idea what they would need a gigantic robot for.
